Pete Price & Department of the Interior

While I don’t usually showcase music in this space, I’m making an exception for my good friend and talented songwriter Pete Price. He’s a long-time member of The Fries, Dayton’s legendary harmony-and-acoustic-guitar-based band, with influences such as Neil Young, The Beatles and James Taylor. While composing songs for his newly-released solo cd Department of the Interior, Pete reached out to me for help in improving the imagery in his lyrics. A songwriter/performer for over 30 years, Pete impressed me with not only his heartfelt desire to improve but his great humility. How could I help him? Well, I had fun trying!

In late ’21 into early ’22, Pete and I exchanged many emails about the lyrics of several songs on Interior, and while I have no idea if I actually helped, I can report that the resulting cd is a major work of art and a labor of love.
